The Jean Margaret Garvey Graduate Scholarship

Created through an endowed gift from Patrick and Patricia Garvey, The Jean Margaret Garvey Graduate Scholarship provides much-needed support for graduate students in the College of Social Work at Florida State University. These scholarships are a lasting tribute to the vision and commitment of Patrick’s mother, Jean Margaret Garvey, who was ardently devoted to the education of future generations. As a young widow, Mrs. Garvey ensured all five of her children earned college degrees at Florida State University. During her 25 years as secretary to the principal of Bishop Moore High School in Orlando, Florida, Mrs. Garvey made an enduring impact on generations of students. These scholarships honor her legacy of sacrifice and influence on behalf of students, ensuring a promising future for world-class social work leaders.
