As an acclaimed researcher, Professor Ching Jen Chen understood that students need to be inspired to continue on the path of engineering research. The Dean and Mrs. Chen Undergraduate Research Award will provide funding to deserving undergraduate students who show an interest in pursuing a research-oriented education in one of the five engineering fields at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering. Through their participation in undergraduate research, students become better thinkers, innovators and problem solvers, cultivating a depth of understanding needed to make a positive difference in the world. By affording the opportunity to work alongside leading faculty in their respective areas of interest, these research projects enable students to apply methods of inquiry to generate findings and share the findings with others through presentation and publication. This award honors Dean Chen and his wife, Ruei Man Chen, for their shared and steadfast commitment to the College of Engineering. It will serve as a lasting tribute to the academic excellence that Chen inspired in not only his students but his faculty as well. The award has the opportunity to shape future engineering researchers who will define the world in which we live.
