The FSU Alumni Association reserves the right to not process bricks with messaging deemed offensive or would reflect poorly on Florida State University. In such circumstances, no charges will be rendered.

Eligibility & Pricing

Do I have to be an FSU graduate to order a brick?
No. Bricks may be ordered by alumni, family and friends of Florida State University.

Is there a discounted price for recent graduates?
Yes. Recent FSU graduates are eligible for a discounted brick price. The recent graduate rate applies to any student that has applied for graduation or has graduated in the past three years. Pricing details are shown when selecting your brick's location.

How much does a brick cost, and what is included?
Brick pricing varies based on order type and optional add-ons, such as a replica tile. Current pricing details are shown when selecting your brick's location.

Ordering & Timing

Can I order a brick at any time of year?
Yes. Brick orders are accepted year-round.

If I order a brick as a graduation gift, will it be installed before graduation?
Bricks are installed according to a set installation schedule. Please check the brick installation schedule and order by dates listed on our main webpage. Certificates are available by request for gifting.

When will my brick be installed?
Brick installations occur several times a year. Orders received by published cutoff dates will be installed during the next scheduled installation window. Estimated installation timelines are outlined on the installation schedule.

Can I have my brick installed at a different time?
Due to delivery and installation scheduling restraints with FSU and our vendor, choosing a date outside of the installation schedule is not currently an option.

Gifting & Certificates

Is this a good graduation gift if the brick won’t be installed by commencement?
Yes. Many people order bricks as graduation gifts using the brick certificate for presentation. Please see the Buying a Brick as a Graduation Gift — Mini FAQ below.

Do you provide a brick certificate?
A digital brick certificate is available upon request and will be sent around the time of installation. A printed card option is also available at no additional cost.

Will the recipient be notified automatically?
No. Communication is sent only to the email address on the order form unless otherwise requested.

Brick Placement & Location Requests

Can I request a specific location for my brick in Westcott Plaza?
Yes. As a courtesy, we accept requests for a general area or section of the plaza. While requests are not guaranteed, we will make every effort to accommodate them.

How do I submit a location request?
After placing your order online, email your location request to westcottbricks@fsu.edu. Requests should be submitted at least two weeks prior to the installation date.

Additional placement details to know:

  • Brick locations cannot be reserved before ordering
  • Requests must be submitted by the person placing the order
  • Once installed, bricks will not be relocated

Inscriptions, Fonts & Proofing

What are the inscription limits?
Each line allows up to 18 characters, including spaces and punctuation.

Do you offer font options?
All bricks use a standard font to ensure consistency throughout the plaza.

Can I use special characters or symbols?
Some special characters may be permitted. Availability may vary based on engraving limitations. Please contact westcottbricks@fsu.edu before ordering if you have questions.

Will I receive a proof before my brick is made?
Bricks are engraved as submitted. Please review your inscription carefully before placing your order, as proofs are not provided.

Replica Tiles

What is the replica tile?
The replica tile is a commemorative keepsake featuring the same inscription as the installed brick.

What is the material and size of the replica tile?
Replica tiles are made of the same material as the original brick and measure approximately 7.5" x 3.5" x 0.5".

When will the replica tile arrive?
Replica tiles are produced at the same time as bricks and typically ship directly from our vendor via UPS around the installation date.

Finding & Viewing Your Brick

How will I know my brick has been installed?
An email will be sent to the email address used when placing the order. That email will have the brick’s location details after installation. Additionally, the website will have a list of the most recently installed bricks and their locations.

Do you provide photos of installed bricks?
Photographs are not automatically provided. If you are unable to visit campus, you may contact our office for assistance.

What if I forget where my brick is located?
Please contact westcottbricks@fsu.edu for assistance locating your brick.

Replacement & Tax Information

Can I change my brick inscription later?
Yes. A brick may be replaced with a new inscription for a $50 replacement fee. Please contact westcottbricks@fsu.edu if you would like to update your brick inscription.

Is my brick order tax deductible?
A portion of your order may be tax deductible. Please consult a tax professional for guidance.
